Takada Shrine Festival

Takada Shrine Festival

[15-16 July 2023] Energetic mikoshi parade down the narrow roads of a small neighbourhood.

Donning themselves in the traditional all-white matsuri outfit, local men will carry a mikoshi (portable shrine) and parade around the neighbourhood so that the local deity can have a tour of inspection and give blessing to the area. Parade starts around 7 pm and kagura shinto dances start around 9 pm (on Day 1 only). The festival ends before midnight so plan ahead on how to get back to your accommodation.

*The parade troupe can change direction suddenly, therefore please keep a safe distance.

*Please respect local culture and tradition.

*Car park & parking spaces near Komukai Bus Stop and Funakoshi Bus Stop will be closed for the mikoshi parade. Audiences are advised to walk to the venue.
