Try the local cuisine Oki Soba Noodles and the "Bakudan Onigiri", unique rice balls beloved by the local people!
Oki soba noodles are made from 100% buckwheat flour and water, without any added binders, e.g. wheat flour. The noodles are very delicate and break into shorter pieces, so eating Oki soba will be a totally different experience to the noodles you can enjoy in other parts of Japan!
The dashi broth uses grilled flying fish or grilled mackerel, so it is very rich and has a strong umami flavor. "Bakudan Onigiri" is made by lightly searing iwanori wild seaweed, which has a strong aroma and taste, and then coating it with soy sauce to wrap the rice ball! It's the local soul food that tops the "Favorite Food Ranking" of high school students!
