- Boasting over 1000 years of history, Ikkū Shrine is the largest shrine in Chibu Village.
- The locals have fondly nicknamed this shrine Ikkū Shrine, which means "the best shrine on the island." In the shrine grounds lies the Rock Seat of Emperor Go-Daigo (exiled to the Oki Islands in 1332), as well as the Rock Seat of Kengyō (a temple administrator who was banished to the Oki Islands in 1674). Children's Kabuki is a tradition here, and there is a play house in addition to the main shrine and worship hall within the grounds. Kabuki is performed by local school children during the biennial shrine festival.
