Shirashima Coast Lookout

Come enjoy the rich contrasts of the blue, green and white of nature.
Located at the northernmost point of Dōgo Island, Shirashima Coast is a popular sightseeing spot. The contrasting colors of the blue sea, white cliffs and green pine trees make for a very picturesque landscape. This coast is said to have 'one less than 100’ small islands and islets and is formed by three different types of volcanic rock, each creating different features. Composed of alkaline igneous rocks such as rhyolite, this particularly beautiful scenery was created by many years of weathering and sea erosion.
There is a walking trail leading down to the coast. We recommend that you hire a guide if you want to explore that area. At the end of the trail there is a bench and a table where you can take a break and enjoy the scenery. The island on the tip of the peninsula is a protected breeding ground for streaked shearwaters.
